If you delay making a choice then you should be able to say what you’d do in either case with the data.

You should never “drive at half speed” because of uncertainty.

Delaying can cause you to make a worse decision later without time to carefully consider.

One caveat I’ll make to this --- human compute is scarce. If it consumes mental resources to pre-commit to a choice, and there isn’t some big benefit that you get by being able to choose in advance then it might be okay to defer thinking about the choice. I think this situation should be pretty rare.
