Humans are all pretty similar. The set of things that you and I both believe is quite large, and not super useful for me to discuss. In this post I’ll keep a list of some topics on which I have a strong and non-widely-held view. I’ve named the post “mildly hot takes” because lots of my views are only radical in the proper context. For example, an opinion like “humanity is >10% likely to end within 5 years” is widely believed by EA’s, but not widely believed outside of the EA community.
List:
- The current ai situation is pretty cursed — ai poses substantial xrisk in next 5 years
- Technology is highly addictive and this is harming lots of people
- If there’s a problem, I should fix it, not endure it or hope that someone else will fix it
- My moral circle should include anything that feels joy and pain, and wants to exist. Even if they’re far away in time or space, even if they don’t look the same as me.
- I should keep a blog.
- We should end death and sickness.
